Summer's not quite over yet, so embrace the warm weather and join us this Thursday 8/26 at the Velvet Lounge. We're serving up delicious 2-for-1 margaritas all day long and from 6-8pm we will be having a tequila tasting. We're putting Siete Leguas, the original distillers of the Patron that everyone fell love with, on the spot. They have been making tequila for over 50 years in Jalisco, Mexico. The tequilas are distilled in small, copper pot stills and are hand-crafted perfection, with distinct flavors and aromas.

The tequilas to be tasted are:
Blanco
Reposado
Anejo

Cigar Rolling Event

We have our in-house roller coming on Saturday to show our guests what exactly goes into these beautiful cigars we feature. From 5-8 he will be creating from start to finish three different kinds of torpedo cigars:

Our light torpedo has a deliciously mild flavor that is subtle but rich, filled with Dominican and Nicaraguan tobacco with a milky Connecticut wrapper.

The dark torpedo is more robust; this cigar has one kind of Domini...can and two kinds of Nicaraguan tobacco inside and it is finished with a Brazilian Maduro wrapper which gives it a bolder flavor and a great even burn.

And last but certainly not least is the double-wrapped torpedo cigar. This house favorite has the best of both worlds, both Connecticut and Brazilian wrappers work together so this cigar begins delicately and then crescendos into a complex full bodied flavor. With a special blend of tobacco inside and its unique wrapping, this is a cigar you don't want to miss.

All those who come out for the event will get 20 percent off all tobacco-related sales, even on cutters and other accessories. And if you mention you saw the facebook invite, the lovely bar staff will probably also get you a delicious cocktail on the house.

Cigar Smoking 101

Inexperienced cigar smokers come into Velvet all the time wondering what cigar is right for them. At the Velvet Lounge we offer many flavors, sizes, and textures of specialty hand-rolled cigars. For a beginner or someone who is not too familiar with cigars I would recommend a very mild, short cigar to start with. We offer a cigar called Robusto Light which is perfect for an inexperienced cigar smoker. The Robusto Light has a nice and mild body with a great draw. It is inexpensive and perfect for a first timer. If the Robusto Light is not for you I would then recommend the Hemingway Light. This small cigar is packed with flavor. It has a mild/medium body and amazing curves. Also on the inexpensive side, it is a great cigar to experiment with.

You can rent our beautiful space for $1,500 with a mandatory bar package. We can comfortably accommodate a small party of 15 to a grand party of 100. All packages can be customized and negotiated based on your specific needs.

Our bar packages consist of:

TOP SHELF PACKAGE
2 hour event - $50 per person
3 hour event - $70 per person
4 hour event - $80 per person
5 hour event - $90 per person
Liquor includes: Grey Goose, Ciroc, Johnnie Walker Green Label, Herradura Silver, Tangueray No. 10, Bombay Sapphire, 10 Cane, etc... This package also includes all beers (import and domestic) and all wine.

PREMIUM PACKAGE
2 hour event - $40 per person
3 hour event - $60 per person
4 hour event - $70 per person
5 hour event - $80 per person
Liquor includes: Ketel One, Stoli, Jack Daniels, Johnnie Walker Black Label, Patron Silver, Tangueray, Karhan, Bacardi, Captain Morgan, etc… This package also includes all beer and two (2) red and two (2) white wines.

STANDARD PACKAGE
2 hour event - $30 per person
3 hour event - $50 per person
4 hour event - $60 per person
5 hour event - $70 per person
This package includes house liquor, select beer, and one (1) red and one (1) white wine.

CASH BAR
If you decide that your event calls for a cash bar, then you will be charged a minimum of $20 per person attending.

The Cigar-Smoker's Dilemma

People often come in, excited to get a drink and....puff on a cigar.

Unfortunately, every time, we have to burst their bubble and tell them that they are not allowed to smoke indoors.
When the Velvet Lounge first opened, smoking indoors was allowed; however, due to Health Department regulations, that is no longer true. We are working on a few options that would bring the smoking back indoors, but in the meantime, smoking is only allowed in the outdoor lounge area.
We have a heat lamp installed that does a surprisingly good job of keeping everyone toasty, so the whole experience is quite pleasant (as well it should be! We wouldn't let it be any other way!)

We will keep working to bring the smoking back, so check back for more information on any developments!
